I think it was well obvious that he was kidding when saying Atletico came for 0 point.

Anyway, as a Galatasaray fan I am hopeless about this game. In pre-season, we played against Real Madrid and were unbelievably good but I don't think it will be the case this time, simply because this is not a pre-season friendly. As already stated, we lost Melo and Telles, both of them to Inter. Melo has been the backbone of this team for many years, making the squad very resilient and aggressive on pitch while also covering defensive duties very well. Even with him we were a fragile team, now I don't even wanna think how it will unfold.

And the other thing is, Galatasaray is in some kind of turmoil now. Many fans are against president who is nothing more than a chavette who can't even speak and dress properly. OK, you will say that the game is played on pitch by footballers bla bla... BUT the atmosphere in locker room is not good as it was before CL games. Here is an example: Alex Telles, who we loaned out to Inter, was subbed in against Milan in weekend and he played very well. I don't remember him doing half of this in Istanbul for Galatasaray. It's because we have no proper management, neither by our coach nor by other staff. The team only relies on experience of relatively old players and well-known hunger and energy of Galatasaray in European games.

Turning back on the pitch, our main striker Burak Yilmaz is out of form and has been criticized a lot recently. He scored 2 goals so far but a profilic striker in his shoes should have tallied 12 - he tucks one and misses hundred. A few years ago, when we made it into quarter finals of CL, he had scored more than Cristiano Ronaldo at some point - this is what he was capable of. But now he's just a shadow of his past and you will probably see him more being surprised at an offside call with his hands around his head with his mouth like "" rather than score.

The other thing is, centre-back Chedjou is injured. Now one of the most experienced players of team, Hakan Balta, may have to take his place in middle, leaving right back position to Carole. Or, Hakan will take the right back and middle will be left probably for Semih Kaya. Both those ideas are dangerous in my opinion for following reasons,

* Hakan Balta did well so far and using him in his real position, right back, would be OK... But in this case, Semih Kaya will have to take the spot in centre back and even though he was once a hot prospect who did well, now he's just a physically-weak, error prone player. You can't trust him to defend.

* The other option is putting Hakan Balta in middle, leaving the right spot for Lionel Carole. Many of us were skeptical about Carole as he came from a Ligue 2 team but so far he also did well - but is he tough enough to take the right back against a team like Atletico Madrid? This remains a huge question mark.

To top this off, Bilal Kisa will probably not play as his mother passed away. He is called "Birlo" meaning "Turkish Pirlo" and his absence, especially taking into consideration that we will also do without Melo, should hurt the team badly.

Offensive line on paper is very strong with the likes of Sneijder and Podolski but the team is in a horrible position to defend. It's like two teams on the field: Four defenders at back and the rest in attack. No strong connection between defense and offense, which Melo kept intact. Let alone putting someone else in his position, we don't even have a replacement for him. Literally, no player to take his place.

I am sad to say that but under these circumstances, I see nothing but a win for Atletico. Yes; the fans, the hunger for European games, bla bla bla... Those are important but they can't stop Atletico players from taking shots, right? Anything over 1,70 is worth a shot imo - I am like, "Well, if we take a point, that's good. If not, then I earn money." about this game.

If Atletico plays a high tempo game then it could go disastrous. Few years ago we had a prolific Burak with Drogba up-front, Melo taking care of midfield and relatively stronger backline. Now we are a joke team who can't even beat mediocre Turkish sides.
